Hatred towards the foetus seems to be a necessity that plays a role
in the process of becoming a parent. But sometimes this intense
affect confuses past and present, fantasies and reality. The foetus
is then designated as a hateful entity and the parents may even
want to organize its disappearance. It is suggested here that
hatred enacted towards the foetus arises from feelings of hatred
that were not processed and experienced in the past in the group of
origin. A clinical analysis of transgenerational hatred shows
that it can resonate with a shameful and hated ancestor. Regression
in family therapy is helpful for elaborating these particular
archaic experiences.

acquired a status of an object of research particularly in the new
field of foetal psychiatry. This article provides a clinical and
theoretical description of abuse to the unborn foetus, and a
psychopathological approach illustrated by many clinical cases. The
study leads us to consider the immediate and distant consequences
of this specific form of abuse to the unborn foetus on the somatic
and psychological development of the child and of course their
implications for a policy of prevention and care.

advance in the last twenty years with important impact on parent’s
and professional’s perceptions of the fetus. In this article, we
analyze how these advances are changing parenthood : how
parents used pictures of fetal ultrasound in their parenthood
construction in general and when suspected anomaly arise. Besides,
some mothers put these ultrasound pictures of their fetus in the
Internet network. We analyze the link between this phenomenon and
familial and social isolation of these mothers. In conclusion,
obstetrical follow up is very tight medically, but parents are
paradoxically alone with emotional management all these fetal
pictures. They try to integrate them in their parenthood
construction, but when a suspected anomaly arises, or when they
have personal fragility, this work could be difficult. We could
make the hypothesis that some of them put these fetal ultrasound
