The psychological challenges of separation
In collaboration with Le Carnet PsyThroughout life, separations punctuate the rhythm of presence and absence. Some of them lead us into sad emotions and reactivate intense anxieties.
Other separations, on the contrary, contain a constructive potential that is indispensable to all processes of differentiation. They enable psychological change and bring with them a greater sense of freedom. What do we feel when we separate? How can we support, prepare for, or contain the separation anxieties of the patients we encounter? Under what conditions can a separation be considered "successful"?
Join us and Catherine Chabert, psychoanalyst (APF) and professor emeritus at the University of Paris, as we explore the many ways in which we can approach the issue of separation, whether it is a catastrophe or a victory.
Catherine Chabert's publications include Se retrouver (PUF, 2023) and Maintenant, il faut se quitter (PUF, 2017).
