Generative AI and misinformation: analysis and recommendations
In collaboration with Groupement Français de l'Industrie de l'Information Archimag
The Académie des technologies published a report in December 2024 on generative AI and misinformation (see lien suivant), which was edited by Nicolas Curien, with contributions from Éric Biernat, Chantal Jouanno, Étienne Klein, Winston Maxwell, Michèle Sebag and Joëlle Toledano.
This report does more than simply state the facts; it also makes recommendations. Firstly, it provides a detailed analysis of the impact of digital technologies on our relationship to information and knowledge, explaining in particular how generative AI is, by its very nature, a potential source of misinformation. The report goes on to mention lines of action in several areas where initiatives are already underway or to be launched: education, research, the media and security, with six specific and original proposals. It is all of this analysis and the actions recommended by the Académie des technologies that are explored during this interview with Nicolas Curien.
Professor emeritus at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, Nicolas Curien has been a founding member of the Académie des technologies since 2000. A polytechnician and mining engineer, he has alternated between academic teaching/research posts and operational responsibilities in senior administration. In particular, he was successively a member of two regulatory authorities, one for electronic communications and posts (Arcep), from 2005 to 2011, and the other for audiovisual and online communication (Arcom), from 2015 to 2021. He is the author of numerous articles and several books on the industrial economics of networked sectors, as well as on the drivers and impacts of the digital transition.
The meeting will be moderated by Clémence Jost, editor-in-chief of Archimag.
