The article aims at identifying, from cases published by Winnicott and Lebovici, what are the processes of change in therapeutic consultations with babies. Concepts such as “the use of an object” and “enactment which can, through empathic feelings, work as a metaphor” are put back into perspective in light of Stern’s works. To achieve a change, the metaphor works as a scenario with the baby acting. The idea is that the consultation works as a dream with two dreamers merged as one (the baby and the therapeut). The dream links affect and representation when already such a link had not been made for earlier generations when they were babies.
