English

This paper deals with the different dimensions of self-esteem and with the interpersonal components of self-esteem, understood within attachment theory. The developmental origin of self-esteem and its construction, interacting with environmental reactions in situations of stress and of alarm may help shed light to the feelings of shame of some adults, on the concept of parentification and on the difficulty to deal with failure, particularly within people working in helping others.
