Bert Rürup, Emeritus Professor of Economics and Finance (Technische Universität Darmstadt, 1976-2009), was Chairman of the Expert Commission on the Sustainability of Social Security Schemes (2002-2003). Since 2000, he has also been a member of the Conseil des Sages, of which he was Chairman from 2005 to 2009.
