A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, he holds an agrégation, a doctorate, and a habilitation in philosophy. He is a professor of modern and contemporary German philosophy at the University of Strasbourg and a researcher affiliated with the Center for Research in Modern and Contemporary German Philosophy (CREPHAC).
