Jacques Van Rillaer holds a doctorate in psychology. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve). He practiced Freudian psychoanalysis for ten years, before turning to behavioral and cognitive therapies. His books include Psychologie de la vie quotidienne.
