Teaches French literature at the University of Lausanne, where he co-directs the interdisciplinary doctoral program. Winner of the Prix de l'Académie suisse des sciences humaines 2005, his publications include L'Âge du roman parlant 1919-1939, preface by P. Bourdieu (2001); Le Gueux philosophe. Jean-Jacques Rousseau (2003); Postures littéraires.
