Petros Markaris

Petros Markaris, a leading intellectual and author of a dozen widely-translated detective novels, is also a playwright, screenwriter for the filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos, and translator of Brecht and Goethe. Born in 1937 to an Armenian father and Greek mother, he grew up in Istanbul and studied at the Austrian School.
